Binge Worthy? Ozark Returns with a Darker and less Compelling Sophomore Season

After binge watching the first season of Netflix's Ozark, I was so ecstatic about season two and I kept counting down to the premiere. The Bryde's are still cleaning money for the cartel and their main goal in Season Two is to build a casino to make the money laundering easier and less suspicious. After Del's murder, the Cartel sends their attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up a bit. Helen is pretty ruthless so lying or hiding anything from her would make things more complicated. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Bryde's soon realize they have to go all in by doing everything within their power to get the casino running before they can find a way to get out.
I loved everything about the first season of Ozark. Seeing Jason Bateman in a completely different element was a breath of fresh air. Together with his fantastic chemistry with the amazing Laura Linney, it made for good TV and a worthy binge. If I'm being totally honest, Ozark still has a lot of work to do. Season one wasn't perfect but it was still better than Season two which I found really dull. The best thing about Ozark is Linney. She plays the Bryed matriarch with so much finesse. Her character has seen a lot of development from the past season and it's very interesting to watch. Wendy is really smart and she puts her brain to work this season by taking control of things and even getting rid of bodies.Watching Julia Garner play Ruth was such a delight. She has grown so much as an actress and as a character. In the beginning of the season, Ruth gives a testimony in court that eventually helps her really evil father get out of jail but eventually she regrets this decision because of how much of a bad influence he was, especially to Wyatt, her golden boy. I loved how protective she was of him. This story line was definitely the most heart breaking arc of the season. Ruth is fighting so hard to take care of her cousins and make sure at least one of them breaks the Langmore curse while dealing with her father. I was so heartbroken when she went to view a house and watched another family view the same house making her remember how messed up her family was and how they'll probably never move out of the trailer. Her plot was definitely the best part of the season and the major reason I kept on watching.
Even with the almost perfect story line and sub plots, there were a few characters that were really excruciating to watch. One example is FBI Agent Petty. I thought his character was not well thought out and very predictable. The fact that he was emotionally and sexually obsessed with the Bryde's was not so fun to watch. The Snells were also a weird bunch. They were very unlikable and I never really found them interesting.
The pacing of season two was relatively slower than season one and it made it stressful to watch at times. I did my best to binge watch the entire second season in three days not because I was excited to see the next episode but mostly because I just wanted it to be over. Yes, the mood is meant to be dark but they took it too literal and ended up making the characters seem so boring. Everything was either black, blue or green. I loved how dark it was in season one but season two was way too bleak and dull. The Netflix drama doesn't seem like it'll last through a third or fourth season. The second season of Ozark was very forgettable and a struggle to watch. I'm really hoping they step up in the next season if or when they get renewed.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I c...

"Don't Tell Mama"- The Shocking Sharp Objects Season Finale

Sharp Objects easily tops the list of my all time favorite TV Series. The HBO Limited Series aired it eight and final episode last night and it's something I'll probably never forget. I'm trying so hard to find the right words to describe this amazing show and the phenomenal acting from Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. They were just too perfect. Throughout the season, we've all been trying to figure out who the killer was in this whodunnit and I had so many theories. I never believed it was John Keene because most times, it's always the person you least expect that'll end up being the perpetrator. My first suspect was Alan (Henry Czerny), Adora's husband and Amma's father. I thought the only reason he would venture out to killing teenage girls was due to the fact that he was no longer as had a bond with his daughter and his loveless marriage but I was so wrong. Then I thought it was the Police Chief, Bill who was in cahoots with Ado...

Chicago Justice: Series Premiere/Crossover Episode-"Fake"

Image via imdb.com I looked forward to seeing Chicago Justice after it was announced because I love the One Chicago universe even though I'm yet to see the other shows, i'm very familiar with their stories and characters. I'm a crazy fan of Chicago PD so I'm going to binge watch all the episodes of Chicago Fire, but I don't think I'll be able to see Chicago Med. Medical shows are too emotional for me. With Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, I don't know where to start from, but I'll binge watch from season one to eighteen whenever I can for sure.  The four part crossover started with an episode on Chicago Fire and concluded in the season premiere of Chicago Justice. There is a fire at a warehouse and the Chicago Fire crew think it's an accident but Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds metal wedges shoved under the door which means whoever started the fire wanted everyone trapped inside, so its arson.
