Shots Fired: Series Premiere- "Hour One: Pilot"

Image via imdb.com  I n our present day, racism is still a very serious issue especially in certain countries and FOX's new show Shots Fired doesn't walk on egg shells with this issue. Slavery was abolished but racism is still very much alive. Officer Joshua Beck (Tristan Wilds) shoots an unarmed white male in a predominantly black neighborhood, so many black people surround the scene until the officers arrive with their guns and everyone raises their hands in a HANDS UP DON'T SHOOT moment. This gave me goosebumps immediately.  Image via tvseriesfinale.com The Department of Justice sends a young black prosecutor, Preston Terry (Stephan James) and an investigator Ashe Akino (Sanaa Lathab) to North Carolina to help with the case. They start investigating immediately and find out there was a black male, Jesse Campbell, who was killed weeks ago but not investigated by the police. They start wondering where the problem is coming from. The police officers probably hav

Being Mary Jane: Mid Season Finale- "Getting It"

Image via refinery29.com The mid season finale of BET's Being Mary Jane aired on Tuesday, March 21 and Mary Jane finally got the anchor chair she had been hoping to get. Okay, let's have a recap of what went down since the beginning of this season. Mary Jane and her bestie, Kara, moved to New York for their gig at Great Day USA. MJ was promised the anchor chair after the great Ronda (Valerie Pettiford) leaves but she didn't get it, MJ's enemy from CNN Justin (Michael Ealy) gets hired at Great Day USA and she thinks he came to get her fired or just make her life a living hell, but it turned out not being so. MJ has a new boyfriend, Lee (Chike Okonkwo) who has two kids with his lesbian baby mother, Niecy broke up with Dante after she gives back her settlement money and Kara is in love with a former football player who is much younger than her. The mid season finale "Getting It" is all about MJ turning the big 4-0. Justin finds out that Ronda's story abo

Fifty Shades Darker

Image via imdb.com I know I'm a few weeks late but I just saw Fifty Shades Darker. I'm a huge fan of the Fifty Shades Trilogy and I was really excited to see the second installment, Fifty Shades Darker. I feel like the movies are for those who read the books, even though the books were way better, I don't think I would have enjoyed the movie that much if I didn't read the books. The first movie ended with Ana breaking up with Christian and 15 minutes into Fifty Shades Darker, she gets back with him. Ana's boss at the Publishing Firm, Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson) tries to get his way with Ana and Christian gets him fired. Elena/Mrs Robinson (Kim Basinger) tells Ana that Christian is not the one for her, but Ana angrily tells her that he has turned over a new leaf. The funniest part about this movie which they totally got wrong was the helicopter scene. It was so obvious that they were in a green room. I laughed so hard after watching that scene. Couldn't they h

This is us: Season One Finale- "Moonshadow"

Image via deadline.com This Is Us had a good first season and to be honest I wonder what they'll do next season. I feel like they'll eventually run out of things to do or say. I have never been annoyed that a character did not die, but I felt that way after watching the finale "Moonshadow". Everything the writers did this season built up the audience to prepare for Jack's death, but they surprised everyone by doing something totally different.  This is Us was an emotional roller coaster and I was let down a bit after that finale, I expected more. This season, Randall found his biological father, found out his mother, Rebecca, knew about his father but refused to tell him,  Kevin reunited with his ex wife, Kate got engaged, Randall lost his biological father and quit his job. I cried a few times during this season, especially when it had to do with Randall. Image via Hollywoodreporter.com The fact that his adoptive mother knew about his biological father

The Catch: Season Two Premiere- "The New Deal"

Image via spoilertv.com      The Catch is one of those shows I knew I was going to like before watching it, the first season was really nice and I know for sure the second season is going to be better. The last episode of the Shondaland show ended with Ben turning himself to the FBI to save his fiancée Alice from going to jail. Ben is looking at 10 to 15 years in prison but Agent Dao is able to get him a deal for 3 to 5 years with his FBI supervisor Justine Diaz (Gina Rodriguez) because he handed them the head of the Kensington Firm. Margot is now the head of the crime syndicate, she calls a meeting in L.A. and the lieutenants don't look so enthusiastic to work for Margot. One of them even had the audacity to get up from the table to pick a call, Margot shoots him and this gets everyone's attention.    Alice and Val's firm isn't doing too well since the investigation, the FBI also seized their files and computers. While at the office, Danny gets an alert that

Feud: Bette & Joan- "Pilot"

Image via imdb.com I never knew anything about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford but I did a little research after watching the trailer and after one episode Ryan Murphy didn't disappoint. These two iconic actresses are played by movie legends, Bette Davis is played by Susan Sarandon while Jessica Lange plays Joan Crawford. These Hollywood icons were not fond of each other but they come together because of the 1962 film " Whatever Happened To Baby Jane ". The eight episode anthology focuses on the backstage battle between the two actresses.  Image via imdb.com The cast is amazing and these two actresses play their parts so well, with the fur and vintage cars, I didn't want the episode to end. I had to do a bit of reading about these two actresses and at that time, they were at the top of their game. But after a while, they weren't getting so much roles so Joan had to search for a project and she picks Bette to co star. This is the beginning of their backs

The Blacklist: Redemption- Season Premiere

Image via imdb.com If you're fan of The Blacklist, then you'll love it's new spin off starring Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen, Famke Janssen as Susan "Scottie" Hargrave and Edi Gathegi as Mathias Solomon. Towards the end of the third season of The Blacklist, Tom met Scottie, one thing led to another and he was about to kill her when Reddington stopped him telling Tom that she's his mother but she doesn't know it. In The Blacklist: Redemption, they pick up where they left off on The Blacklist with Reddington almost dying. Tom gets a phone call from Howard Hargrave's (His supposed biological father) lawyer telling him to come to New York to discuss Howard's will. Liz tells him to go because they need the money and Tom might find out something about his biological parents. When he gets to New York, the cab driver drops him at a pay phone and it rings immediately.  Image via imdb.com The voice on the other end of the phone tells him to pick up the

Shades of Blue: Season Two Premiere- "Unforgiving"

Image via nbc.com At the end of the first season, Harlee (Jennifer Lopez) snapped the neck of Miguel, her daughter's father, and Wozniak turned himself to the FBI.  Harlee looks a bit terrified and confused after killing Miguel but she had to quickly dispose the body. She raps him in her shower curtain and buries him on top of Saperstein's body after removing his teeth. She goes back to the office and Woz isn't back, everyone is wondering where he is. When he gets back to the office, he tells Harlee to follow him and she thinks he wants to talk. She gets into the car, he plays the tape Agent Stahl gave him of Harlee and starts driving. While the tape plays, Harlee tries to explain and apologize to Woz but he doesn't say a word. They stop at a building and Woz attacks a stranger in front of the building and puts his blood on the door to give them probable cause to go inside. Harlee thinks the bust is a loyalty test so she goes with it. They arrest the men inside and

Logan

Poster via imdb.com In the year 2029, the X men have disbanded and the mutant population is almost extinct. Logan is older and has aged greatly because the adamantium in his body is now poisoning him and he no longer has healing factors. He's now a chauffeur and takes care of the old and sick Professor X with the mutant, Caliban. One day Logan is approached by a nurse, Gabriella, (Elizabeth Rodriguez) to take 11 year old  Laura to a place called Eden in North Dakota. He takes the job reluctantly but finds Gabriella dead the next morning. Logan, Laura and Professor X are almost killed by the same agents who killed Gabriella and Caliban is captured. They find out that mutant children are being bred by Transigen and Gabriella helped several children escape. Laura was bred with Logan's DNA so they have the same abilities. After so many obstacles, Laura and Logan get to Eden. All the kids are there waiting for Laura and they take care of Logan by tending to his wounds. Rictor,

Chicago Justice: Official Series Premiere-"Uncertainty Principle"

Image via nbc.com After the cross over episode "Fake", I knew for sure Chicago Justice was going to easily become one of my favorites. It has definitely won me over again with this new episode "Uncertainty Principle" . One of our favorites from the Chicago PD's Intelligence Unit, Kevin Atwater is arrested and charged with the death of a young man he arrested. This is obviously a huge conflict for Antonio who finds it hard questioning Atwater and arresting him. He's still extremely loyal to his former work family and seeing Atwater in trouble doesn't sit well with him. It was obvious Atwater was innocent, he's such a good person and would never do anything to hurt anyone intentionally. If it was Voight, then I'll probably question the whole situation because Voight sometimes encourages the use of violence as a means to an end. He even tells Antonio that if Atwater killed Justin, then he deserved to die.  ANTONIO: "What if.."

Chicago Justice: Series Premiere/Crossover Episode-"Fake"

Image via imdb.com I looked forward to seeing Chicago Justice after it was announced because I love the One Chicago universe even though I'm yet to see the other shows, i'm very familiar with their stories and characters. I'm a crazy fan of Chicago PD so I'm going to binge watch all the episodes of Chicago Fire, but I don't think I'll be able to see Chicago Med. Medical shows are too emotional for me. With Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, I don't know where to start from, but I'll binge watch from season one to eighteen whenever I can for sure.  The four part crossover started with an episode on Chicago Fire and concluded in the season premiere of Chicago Justice. There is a fire at a warehouse and the Chicago Fire crew think it's an accident but Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds metal wedges shoved under the door which means whoever started the fire wanted everyone trapped inside, so its arson.
