Emmys 2018- Biggest Snubs and Surprises

TV's biggest night held on Monday and some of the winners included Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, HBO's Game of Thrones, Netflix's The Crown and FX's The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. There were a lot of surprising wins and snubs especially FX's Atlanta and Hulu's The Handmaids Tale.

SNUB: ATLANTA- The first season of Donald Glover's Atlanta was good but they came back even better in the second season with fantastic acting from Glover, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield and Brian Tyree Henry. And with standout episodes like the chilling "Teddy Perkins", I expected Atlanta to snag at least one award especially in the 'Lead Actor' category but HBO's Harry ended up with it. The fact that someone sat in the front row of the awards in a Teddy Perkins costume was probably my favorite moment from the Emmys and the biggest mystery of the night.
SURPRISE: GAME OF THRONES- I'm obsessed with Game of Thrones and it has been phenomenal from season one but I wasn't expecting it to win this year mostly because a lot of critics tagged last season as one of the weakest. I don't think this is the year Game of Thrones should win an award for Best Drama Series and it's still a shock to me that shows like This is Us and The Handmaids Tale were snubbed for this award.
SNUB: THIS IS US- After last years monumental win for Sterling K. Brown, I thought we were going to get a repeat (even though I was rooting for Milo Ventimiglia) this year but they both lost to The Americans' Matthew Rhys. In the Best Drama category, the NBC Drama lost to Game of Thrones.
SNUB: THE HANDMAIDS TALE- I'm still not over the fact that Hulu's The Handmaids Tale went home with zero awards last night unlike last year where it snagged a lot of Emmys. I was expecting a Best Actress award for Elisabeth Moss but it ended up going home with The Crown's Claire Foy. Joseph Fiennes also lost to Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage in the "Supporting Actor" category and Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel and Ann Dowd all lost to Westworld's Thandie Newton
SNUB: SANDRA OH- Sandra Oh's nomination made history after she became the first asian woman to be nominated in the Best Actress category and I kept hoping the Emmy's would make it even better by giving her the award but the Killing Eve actress lost to The Crown's Claire Foy.
SURPISE: DARREN CRISS - The last season of Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace was not as exceptional as The People Vs. OJ but Darren Criss' performance as serial killer Andrew Cunanan was outstanding. I kept wondering if it was still the same Blaine from Glee. I was so excited about how much he had evolved as an actor and I'm glad he went home with the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series.
SNUB: BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH- Patrick Melrose is undeniably one of Benedict Cumberbatch's best roles till date. He played the titular character with so much finesse and class that I was 99% sure he would go home with The Best Actor in a Limited Series award. As Melrose, Cumberbatch displayed his unique acting abilities as a recovering drug and alcohol addict who was sexually abused as a child by his father. I was literally crying tears of joy when Samira Wiley announced his name during the nominations and I really wish he went home with the award, but he lost to American Crime Story's Darren Criss.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I c...

"Don't Tell Mama"- The Shocking Sharp Objects Season Finale

Sharp Objects easily tops the list of my all time favorite TV Series. The HBO Limited Series aired it eight and final episode last night and it's something I'll probably never forget. I'm trying so hard to find the right words to describe this amazing show and the phenomenal acting from Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. They were just too perfect. Throughout the season, we've all been trying to figure out who the killer was in this whodunnit and I had so many theories. I never believed it was John Keene because most times, it's always the person you least expect that'll end up being the perpetrator. My first suspect was Alan (Henry Czerny), Adora's husband and Amma's father. I thought the only reason he would venture out to killing teenage girls was due to the fact that he was no longer as had a bond with his daughter and his loveless marriage but I was so wrong. Then I thought it was the Police Chief, Bill who was in cahoots with Ado...

Chicago Justice: Series Premiere/Crossover Episode-"Fake"

Image via imdb.com I looked forward to seeing Chicago Justice after it was announced because I love the One Chicago universe even though I'm yet to see the other shows, i'm very familiar with their stories and characters. I'm a crazy fan of Chicago PD so I'm going to binge watch all the episodes of Chicago Fire, but I don't think I'll be able to see Chicago Med. Medical shows are too emotional for me. With Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, I don't know where to start from, but I'll binge watch from season one to eighteen whenever I can for sure.  The four part crossover started with an episode on Chicago Fire and concluded in the season premiere of Chicago Justice. There is a fire at a warehouse and the Chicago Fire crew think it's an accident but Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds metal wedges shoved under the door which means whoever started the fire wanted everyone trapped inside, so its arson.
