Mr & Mrs: Chapter 2 (2017)

Image via medianigeria.com         Mr & Mrs: Chapter 2 finally hit cinema on April 21, 2017 and it really didn't live up to expectations.  The first installment starring Nse Ikpe Etim & Joseph Benjamin graced our screens in 2012 and everyone loved it, I saw it like three times. The story line together with the impeccable acting of the cast members made this movie worth watching over and over again. The same cannot be said for Chapter 2. It starred Chidi Mokeme and one of my favorites, Rita Dominic. Directed by Teco Benson, this movie has a totally different story line and involves three couples. Although, it still had the marriage theme just like the first one. The first couple Kobi (Chidi Mokeme) and Sharon are trying to save their marriage while having financial issues. Their kids are also getting involved in dangerous activities. After his father's issue with the EFCC causes all their assets to be frozen, the family starts depending on the salary of Sharon.

Sleepless (2017)

Image via imdb.com   When I saw the trailer for Sleepless , I was like " Oh yes! Jamie Foxx in an action flick! " I was excited to see him, I mean, who isn't? But I wasn't as excited as I was when the movie started after watching. So here's the story. Vincent Downs (Jamie Foxx) is a Las Vegas detective who works with a crooked partner Sean Cass (T.I.), together they steal a large batch of cocaine, which unknowingly to them, belonged to a very dangerous crime family, The Novaks. The drug was initially sold to Rob Novak by the casino owner, Stanley Rubino. Rubino finds out that his drug was stolen by Downs, so he kidnaps Thomas, Downs' son. Jennifer Bryant (Michelle Monaghan) gets a bad vibe from Downs when investigating police issued bullets found at a crime scene and she starts tailing him. Downs gets the drugs to Rubino but keeps half in the toilet until his son is released.  Image via imdb.com Jennifer goes into the toilet, finds the drugs and t

Power Rangers (2017)

Image via imdb.com To be very honest, I was never excited to see Power Rangers, which is probably because I didn't see the previous series and films. I'm a fan of super hero movies and TV shows but I wasn't too thrilled to see this one. The trailer looked good but not enough to make me crave to see the movie, but I saw it anyway. The plot isn't anything too crazy or special, it's basically how a group of high school students get their powers and save the world. These students don't get to actually wear their suits until 20 minutes to the end of the movie, then everything just felt rushed. It was like everyone was waiting for them to finally get into the suits and make everything exciting, except it really wasn't.  Image via imdb.com The story line is good and each character had a chance to shine on their own, plus amazing CGI. The character development was on point but I felt like the final scenes were a bit rushed and I kept rolling my eyes

The Good Fight: Season One Finale -"Chaos"

As a huge fan of Robert & Michelle King's "The Good Wife", I couldn't help but fall in love with this spin off. A lot of stuff went down during the first season and the finale was a bit chaotic. In "Chaos" , Dylan Stack (Jason Biggs), a technology lawyer who had previously appeared in a 2012 episode of The Good Wife comes to Diane for help claiming he was about to be framed for cyber terrorism. Lucca takes the code in a flash to her ex lover, Colin (Justin Bartha) who works at the Department of Justice who then gives the flash to Dincon who inserts it in a computer. Image via ew.com Things start going wrong from here. They arrest Lucca as an accessory but eventually let her go when Stack gets caught red handed as the culprit. Diane and Kurt decide to give their relationship another try after Kurt gets involved in a carjacking that leads him to the hospital. Diane almost passes out thinking he died and she realizes that she really loves him and i

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

Poster via imdb.com   When I heard John Wick was getting a sequel, I'll admit that I wasn't too excited to see it, but this sequel is way better than the first one. In this follow up, John Wick is retired from the assassins world but he is forced out of retirement by Italian Crime Lord, Santino D'Antonio because John swore to a "marker" which he had no other choice but to uphold. Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel in New York, reminds John that he can't violate the rules, so John accepts the task of killing D'Antonio's sister, Gianna. She ends up taking her life but her bodyguard Cassian (Common) goes after John. Their fight leads them to the Continental Hotel in Rome, they end the fight but Cassian swears to avenge Gianna's death. D'Antonio opens a $7 million contract on John which leads to numerous attempts on his life including Cassian. Image via imdb.com    They get into a fight at the subway, John stabs Cassian but spa

Homeland: Season Six Finale- "America First"

Image via ew.com   WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! This season of Showtime's Homeland has been really sad, twisted and filled with a lot of suspense! The episode ended with Carrie wondering if her country has turned her back on her again! Just like when Brody died.  At the beginning of the season, Carrie's client was arrested, framed and set up with explosives in the truck he was driving and of course only Carrie believed he was innocent. Can everyone just listen to Carrie when she has a lead? She's always right! Dar Adaal tortures a senator to get information about the "Toxic Soldier" plan which was designed to turn Quinn into a patsy. The plan was set up without Dar's knowledge so he calls McClendon (Robert Knepper) to confirm but he denies it saying the plan was discussed but not enacted.  Image via usatoday.com    Carrie and Quinn return to Manhattan and they are so sure that something is about to go down and McClendon's team is

Omugwo (2017)

Image via nollyzone.com   Every time I hear or see "Directed by Kunle Afolayan" , I know I definitely have to see it. From The Figurine: Araromire to Phone Swap ,  October 1  and The CEO , Kunle Afolayan doesn't disappoint. I think he's Nigeria's Mel Gibson! He switched the Suspense and Thrillers for this Comedy starring Nollywood veteran Patience Ozokwor . Omugwo is about Omotunde, a young Civil Engineer married to an On Air Personality Raymond. She gives birth to their first daughter and their mother in-laws move in to help with the baby and instead of making things easier for their children, they become rivals and complicate their children's lives. Omugwo is such a hilarious take on the Igbo culture and it sheds light on issues such as Post-Partum Depression and husbands who have to be patient with their wives after child birth. Okafor's Law

Image via imdb.com There was so much buzz about Omoni Oboli's "Okafor's Law", especially because of the legal battle between Omoni Oboli & Canadia based writer Jude Idaba. I became really interested in seeing what the deal was with the movie. The story is about Chuks aka Terminator (Blossom Chukwujekwu) who places a bet with his two friends to prove Okafor's Law which says that once a man has sex with a woman, he can have sex with her again even though they break up or the woman gets married. Terminator goes on to prove this theory with Ejiro (Omoni Oboli), Tomi (Toyin Ai...) & Ify (Ufuoma Mc-Dermott). He ends up falling in love with Ejiro and they end up getting engaged. How cliche! Nollywood filmmakers are really stepping up their game and Omoni Oboli did a good job with this one but it wasn't worth the hype for me. It was an average movie.  Image via tiff.net The cinematography was on point and surpassed the usual Nollywood standard but

Prison Break- Season Five Premiere: "Ogygia"

Image via imdb.com Prison Break returned to FOX after almost eight years of being off air. I'm not really sure why they revived the show but I'm happy and excited they did. The fifth season is tagged an event/miniseries and it's going to contain 9 episodes. I was a bit concerned when they only showed Michael Scofield at the end of the hour long episode. It's going to be just a few episodes, how are they going to get everything out in nine episodes? I just hope it doesn't get rushed at the end.  Okay, so Michael is miraculously alive after he presumably died seven years ago and the first person to find out is T-Bag who is still creepy as hell especially with his fake hand. After being released from prison, he gets a mysterious package with a picture of Michael in prison which he takes to Lincoln who is back in his old ways of owing people money, just like the first season. He doesn't want to believe, especially the fact that it's coming from T-Bag

Big Little Lies: Season Finale- "You Get What You Need"

Image via vulture.com When Big Little Lies premiered, I wasn't too excited about the show. I felt it was going to be dull but they proved me wrong. Big Little Lies focuses on motherhood, infidelity, domestic violence and divorce. I've been waiting since the premiere for the big reveal and I was really shocked to find out who was murdered and the identity of Jane's baby daddy.Celeste's husband Perry had beaten her before they left for Trivia Night and she had been making plans to get a new house and divorce him but just before they left the house, he sees her realtors call come into her phone which only means more trouble for her. I initially thought Jane's story wasn't related to any of the main characters but it was not the case. It turns out Perry was the same person that raped her  years ago. Image via themusejezebel.com  The grand climax the show had been building up to involved all the leading ladies of the show Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Ce
