13 Most Anticipated Movies of 2018

The movie calendar for 2018 includes Thrillers, Fantasies, Science- Fictions, Crime-Heists and a few Superhero blockbusters. Below is a list of my most anticipated 2018 films. BLACK PANTHER (February 16) The MCU Superhero starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, Michael B. Jordan and Forest Withaker is one film I'm so sure is going to lead at the box office. Wakanda Forever!  AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (May 4) After Black Panther comes Infinity War. All the Avengers, including Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther and Spider Man team up to stop Thanos from causing havoc. DEADPOOL (June 1) I’m so excited to see what Marvel has in store for the sequel to the 2015 R-Rated Superhero film. Deadpool is going to go against  ninjas, the yakuza and a pack of aggressive canines. OCEANS 8 (June 8) Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Cate Blanchett and Akwafina star in t

Review- Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017)

Image via imdb.com   Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle is a sequel of the 1995 film Jumanji and it stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, Bobby Cannavale and Nick Jonas. It is set 20 years after the  first film and it follows four high school students who discover an old video game during detention and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. They find out that they have three lives and must play the game and survive it to get back home, to the real world. They go on dangerous adventures and have to fight off the evil explorer, Van Pelt and his henchmen on their way. They also find Alex Vreek who has been stuck in the game for 20 years and together they have to come up with a plan to finish or be stuck in the game forever.  Image via imdb.com      I’ll confess, I didn’t think much of Jumanji before going into the movie theater  but I was pleasantly surprised by the way it turned out. The plot doesn

Best and Worst Nollywood Films in 2017

OJUKOKORO I never miss an opportunity to tell people how much Ojukokoro is one of my best Nollywood films ever! The best thing about the movie was how the story was told and how the cast brought life to it. I wish they would show it in the cinemas again because more people need to see it. Read my review on Ojukokoro  HERE ISOKEN Isoken was another Nollywood Romantic comedy but they got every thing right about it. The cast, story, acting and characters were amazing. It explored the themes of friendship, self confidence, love and family and it was fun to watch. Dakore Egbuson did a fantastic job as the the titular character. Read my review  HERE CATCH.ER Catch.er was a case of whodunnit that was filmed in a very beautiful way with the camera capturing the right angles. It was gripping and filled with enough suspense to keep me going till the credits rolled. We need more movies like Catch.er in our cinemas. Read my review on Catch.er  HERE PICTURE PERFECT I still can&#

Review- The Wedding Party 2 (2017)

In this sequel to the 2016 Romantic Comedy, Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe) accidentally proposes to his girlfriend, Deadre (Daniella Down) and he sets off a series of events that brings Deadre's British family and his Nigerian Igbo family together, creating a bit of chaos on their way to the isle. Before seeing The Wedding Party 2, I saw a few reactions on social media about how it wasn't such a nice film. Nevertheless, I went in with an open mind and I wasn't completely disappointed. I didn't entirely love the original film and just like this sequel, it was a huge ball of cliches. The film doesn't have a fantastic plot and you could predict the entire film if you saw the trailer.  The cast did an awesome job and I particularly loved Daniella Down and Sola Sobowale's performance.  Kunle Idowu's role as Harrison was super annoying and not funny in any way and AY was the most unnecessary character. I'm still trying to figure out what he contributed

Best and Worst TV Shows of 2017

2017 was a year that saw the debut & return of so many amazing shows and it became so hard to k eep up. From Insecure to The Handmaids Tale to Ozark, I just couldn't get enough. I'll admit, there were still a few shows I didn't get to see because there's just too much TV shows and very little time. This is a list of some of my best and worst shows. THE HANDMAIDS TALE Margaret Atwood's The Handmaids Tale is undoubtedly my favorite show this year. Watching Elizabeth Moss and the rest of the cast members was such a pleasure. The story was gripping and intense and very few shows have made me feel the way this one did. I can't wait to see where they go with the second season. Read my review on The Handmaids Tale HERE Image via hulu.com MINDHUNTER I'm never too busy to watch a show about serial killers & I binged the entire first season of Netflix's Mindhunter in 3 days. Everything about this show is phenomenal. From

Binge Worthy: The Crown Season 2 Review

Image via TVline.com It's safe to conclude that Netflix's The Crown is still one of the best TV shows at the moment. While season one focused on how the young Elizabeth (Claire Foy) adjusted to her new role as Queen and her relationship with Sir Winston Churchill played by the phenomenal John Lithgow, season 2 covers the life from 1955-1963 and includes The Suez Canal Crisis, The Profumo Affair, her deteriorating marriage with Prince Phillip (Matt Smith) and the struggles of her sister, Princess Margaret (Vanessa Kirby).  As the season progressed, it became more and more evident that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip were struggling with their marriage and trying so hard to make it work because divorce was not an option. Their relationship was center stage in the first three episodes which also focused on The Suez Canal Crisis and the eventual retirement of the Queen's second Prime Minister, Anthony Eden.  Image via TVline.com I felt really bad for Princess Ma

Review- The Bridge (2017)

Directed by Kunle Afolayan, The Bridge follows the tragic story of Stella (Chidinma Ekile) & Obadare (Demola Adedoyin), two people from different cultures who fall in love with each other but are unable to have their happy ending because of their families. I never turn down the opportunity to see a Kunle Afolayan film mostly because he's one of my favorite Nollywood film makers and he once again did a great job with The Bridge. This is the first film starring Project Fame winner Chidinma Ekile and to be honest, I wasn't really satisfied with her acting. It seemed like she was holding back a bit. Zack Orji never disappoints and I loved every scene with Tina Mba. She's such an amazing actress. The best part about The Bridge were the costumes and the way they showcased the most colorful part about the Nigerian culture.      I got really emotional when Dare met Stella's parents to give them the tragic news. I can't deny the fact that Demola Adedoyin

The Gifted Mid Season Finale- "eXploited"

The mutants have been through so much this season from losing some of their members to hiding and running away from the Sentinel Services. In the episode before the mid-season finale, the mutants saved a few refugees and unknowingly let in a crazy telepath, Esme, into their fold. Esme is able to manipulate the mutants and the Struckers and by the end of the episode is reunited with her family. She gets Caitlyn & Reed to go on a mission to Agent Turners house and convince him to transfer the captured mutants from Trask Industries and gets the mutants to take her to where the transport will take place. Esme revealed her true powers and she's not only able to read minds but control them. She also has two evil sisters who help her take down the Sentinel Services and break the other mutant prisoners free. I had a bad feeling about Esme when she kept insisting that she needed to get her family and it became obvious that she was not team Underground when she manipulated everyone.
