Review- A Simple Favor (2018)

Based on the 2017 novel of the same name and directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy), A Simple Favor centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her mysterious & rich best friend Emily's (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town. Stephanie strikes a relationship with Emily’s grieving husband Sean (Henry Golding) and a lot of twisted secrets from Emily’s past bubbles to the surface leaving Stephanie to believe that her friend’s disappearance wasn’t by accident.

I never really took A Simple Favor seriously even after seeing the trailer. I just expected it to be a regular film starring two actresses I loved but I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. I’ve always been a fan of Lively & Kendrick and I loved their chemistry together in this film. I loved how witty & twisted the story was and how they brought their characters to life. The story was predictable but not predictable in a way that you thought you knew what was going to happen next. You could never figure out the next move of the characters and it was exhilarating! It was dark but it had a bit of humor that made the plot more balanced. I laughed out loud and I let out gasps. The climax scene was particularly very interesting and entertaining. It just kept getting better. You think you have it figured out but then you get hit with another twist. My favorite thing about this film was Blake Lively and her pant suits. She looked so chic and classy. No one can rock a pant suit like Emily Nelson!

These days, it’s hard to see a Mystery Comedy done well but Feig was able to pull it off with A Simple Favor which worked mostly because of the casting. After an hour fifty seven minutes of thrill, I walked out of the cinema satisfied with the total execution of the film. A Simple Favor is definitely worth it.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I c...

Goodbye Mike & Rachel- Suits' Seventh Season Finale Review

Suits is one of my favorite Legal Drama's and for some reason, I'm still very invested in the show after 7 seasons. I don't think they've had any bad season and they've done such a great job with the growth and development of the major characters but the time to say goodbye to Mike and Rachel was finally here. Due to the fact that Meghan Markle would be getting married to Prince Harry, I guess it was a good time to wrap up her love story with Mike and they do this with the fairy tale wedding we've all been waiting for. Mike and Rachel have been an item since the first season and have been engaged since the fifth. They would have been married a season ago but were not able to because of Mike's time in prison. I always loved their chemistry and I was so sad to see them say goodbye and more than anything, I loved Mike and Harvey's relationship. It was so genuine and pure. The two final episodes of the final season of Suits aired back to back and...

Snowfall Season One Finale Review- "The Rubicon"

There's no denying that this season has been intense for the four major characters and everyone around them. The first season of Snowfall was all over the place but the by the 8th episode, I was convinced the writers finally got their thoughts together. The pilot episode was good and I felt this was a show I was going to fall in love with, but it became a struggle to watch after the third episode.  They got my attention back after Leon was shot in the final scene of the 8th episode. Franklin got himself into a very dangerous business which I still think he hasn't fully realized. He wants to hustle hard and make sure he's mom doesn't have to bother herself about anything, but she's disappointed when she finds out about her son's extra curricular activities. The neighborhood knows that he's the boss and he's really all about the money.  Damson Idris brings his character of Franklin to life and I couldn't see anyone else playing this role. He's ...
