Zainab Balogun is Obsessed with Chris Attoh in "Sylvia"- Review

Ever since Richard (Chris Attoh) was a kid, he used to see Sylvia (Zainab Balogun) in his dream and this continued every single night even during his adult life. Complications arise when Richard meets and falls in love with Gbemi (Ini Dinma-Okojie), a real woman, leading Sylvia to do everything in her power to destroy Richard's life. I would be lying if I said I didn't walk out of the movie theatre smiling and so grateful for everyone involved with this project. This year, I've seen a few Nollywood films but a lot of them left a bad taste in my mouth and made me wonder how and why the filmmakers were bold enough to release such films. I'm so glad I don't feel the same way with Sylvia. Even though it was very predictable and cliche, it didn't change the excitement that came with every scene. The execution of this Psychological Thriller was almost perfect and definitely a breath of fresh air for Nollywood. This is the film Nollywood filmmakers should emulate and look on to for inspiration.
Words are not enough to describe how flawless Zainab Balogun was as the titular character. I'm still in awe of her breathtaking acting. I couldn't get enough of her! It was just amazing how she brought this character to life! I can't even think of anyone that would have been perfect for this role besides her. Balogun has come a long way since her days as a co-host on Ebony Life's The Spot and she has been in a few movies over the years including The Wedding Party, Ojukokoro and The Royal Hibiscus Hotel but none of them really showcased her talent as an actor like Sylvia. She was astounding!  Ini Dinma-Okojie does a great job as the naive wife and so does Udoka Oyeka. I always knew Chris Attoh was a brilliant actor but he was particularly remarkable in Sylvia. My favorite scene had to be during the meeting where he kept seeing his assistant as Sylvia. I could't help but let out a few tears from laughing too hard. I don't know how they were able to keep a straight face while filming that scene because it was hilarious.
The visuals were stellar and I loved how the soundtrack was literally the mood of the entire film and the audience. We were all so scared for Richard and Gbemi and on the look out for when and where Sylvia would pop out from. Sylvia is the best film to come out of Nollywood since Ramsey Nouah and Rita Dominic's 2016 film, 76'.  This is a story a few of us must have seen before but I can't deny the perfect execution of the plot. I wish I could see everyone involved in this film and thank them personally for taking Nollywood to another level and giving us a movie that would be talked about for years to come.

You'll have to drop everything you're doing right now and go see Sylvia. It's worth every penny.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

Review- Who's The Boss (2020)

Directed by Chinaza Onuzo, "Who's The Boss" follows Liah (Sharon Ooja) , an Advertising Executive who struggles to climb the cooperate ladder while juggling her mean and vindictive boss Hauwa (Funke Akindele- Bello). She takes the advice of her best friend Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and enlists her friend Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known play boy into posing as her boss but ends up falling for him. It doesn't get any more cliche than this. After watching the first teaser for the Inkblot comedy, I was a little intrigued and looked forward to seeing how they were going to pull it off but sadly, it fell short in more ways than one. The biggest issue I had was the lead character and the actress cast to play it. Ooja has been typecast and I thought seeing her as the lead would show us a different side to the actress but my perception of her acting skills are worse than before. There's nothing worth remembering about this story and her acting did nothing to el
