Top 5 Nollywood movies in 2016

2016 saw the release of amazing movies in Nollywood, from The CEO to The Arbitration to 93 Days , t he Nigerian movie makers have definitely upped their game and delivered breathtaking movies that broke different records. A handful of them also debuted at International Movie Festivals with great reviews. Here's a list of my top five Nollywood movies in 2016. 1.   THE CEO With Kunle Afolayan directing, I expected nothing short of perfection. The CEO which premiered at the Eko Hotels and Suites is about five top level members of a company who are selected for a retreat where the new CEO of global company would be selected. They all try to out do one another for the position and start dying one after the other. The plot had twists and the mystery left the viewer with so many questions. The cast delivered strong performances and the visuals were top notch. 2. THE WEDDING PARTY  Starring Banky Wellington and Adesua Etomi, The Wedding Party tells the story of a couple trying t

The focus of the movie is not on General Murtala Mohammed but on Captain Joseph Dewa (Ramsey Noah), a soldier from the Middle East and his pregnant wife Suzy. He is forced to join the coup plotters which he disagrees so they try to stop him and his wife from leaving the barracks. Immediately after the assassination takes places, Captain Dewa gets arrested as part of the coup plotters while trying to get his pregnant wife to the hospital. Suzy looks for every possible way to prove his innocence and she eventually succeeds. Captain Dewa's sister Angela

The Wedding Party

Theatrical Release Poster The Wedding Party, directed by the Lord of visuals, Kemi Adetiba follows the story of Dunni Coker ( Adesua Etomi ) and Dozie Onwuka ( Banky Wellington ) and their families on their wedding day. Dunni is the only daughter of her parents Bamidele ( Alibaba Akporobome ) and Tinuade Coker ( Sola Sobowale ) and she's a 24 year old virgin getting married to former playboy Dozie whose parents Felix ( Richard Mofe Damijo ) and Obianuju Onwuka (Ireti Doyle) are not on the same page about the wedding. Obianuju is still bitter after her husband cheated on her years ago and is angry about the fact that her son is getting married to a random girl from Ekiti State.  Image via Bellanaija.com The wedding basically goes through everything, from the bride's veil tearing, the wedding planner Wonu ( Zainab Balogun ) trying to stop guests without invites from getting in and a thief stealing phones and holding the bride's parents and groom's family hos

Release Poster The Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) directed movie  Passengers stars two of Hollywood's hottest actors, Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence as two out of 5,000 passengers on a commercial spacecraft making a 120 year voyage to the new planet Homestead II. Jim Preston played by Chris Pratt wakes up accidentally and realizes that he's the only one awake. Shameless: Season 7 Finale

If you've followed Shameless from the beginning, then you know the writers never disappoint. The seventh season finale which aired on Sunday was proof of why we were all so in love with this dysfunctional family. At the beginning of the episode, Ian is on his way back to Chicago after helping Mickey (who I really miss) escape and we finally see Carl at military school as he gets the information about the death of his mother.   At the hospital, a Doctor informs Fiona, Lip and Debbie that they were not able to revive Monica and that she died after a blood vessel in her brain burst. Fiona goes outside to give Frank the news, telling him he could come in to say goodbye but Frank walks away to a bar without saying a word to Fiona. Back at the house, Fiona, Kev, V, Debbie, Liam and Neil go through Monica's personal belongings which included clothes, jewelry, drugs, a copy of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse and a key. Frank shows up late, pukes on the floor and passes out

How To Get Away With Murder:Mid Season Finale

SPOILER ALERT!! Do not read if you're yet to see the mid season finale of "How To Get Away With Murder" which aired on Thursday, November 17. Throughout the season, everyone was trying to figure out who was #UnderTheSheet and to be honest I never really expected it to be any of Annalise's kids . Most people had their bets on Nate, Frank or Connor. This question was answered on the ninth episode and everyone got to know that it was Wes Gibbons. Image via Variety.com This was very hard to process especially for me because I always get emotionally attached to TV characters, I never got over the death of Will Gardner in The Good Wife, I was in tears for two episodes straight, which was over an hour. It was a really sad moment for a lot of people and then came another episode much like that one that just makes you want to punch your screen, get on a plane to the set of  How To Get Away With Murder , find Shonda Rhimes and Peter Nowalk and make them

Teen Wolf:Sixth Season Premiere

Image via ew.com The sixth and final season of Teen Wolf returned on November 15 and I can honestly say it was a good start. In the episode titled "Memory Lost", we see a bunch of men in horses (Ghost Riders) kill a family and erase every memory of them making it look like they never existed. As usual, Scott and Stiles investigate on their own to make sense of the situation and one of the riders almost kills Stiles.  Image via ew.com  Stiles is the only one who can see them which means he's probably going to die soon. His friends and his father soon forget about him and the episode ends with Lydia trying to remember Stiles. Stiles is one of my favorite characters and it was heart breaking to see that he's probably in a lot of trouble again. Season 3B was quite sad when he was possessed by the Nogitsune.
