Best and Worst TV Shows of 2017

2017 was a year that saw the debut & return of so many amazing shows and it became so hard to keep up. From Insecure to The Handmaids Tale to Ozark, I just couldn't get enough. I'll admit, there were still a few shows I didn't get to see because there's just too much TV shows and very little time. This is a list of some of my best and worst shows.

THE HANDMAIDS TALE
Margaret Atwood's The Handmaids Tale is undoubtedly my favorite show this year. Watching Elizabeth Moss and the rest of the cast members was such a pleasure. The story was gripping and intense and very few shows have made me feel the way this one did. I can't wait to see where they go with the second season. Read my review on The Handmaids Tale HERE

MINDHUNTER
I'm never too busy to watch a show about serial killers & I binged the entire first season of Netflix's Mindhunter in 3 days. Everything about this show is phenomenal. From the acting to the plot and the cast. It's based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit about 2 FBI agents who go to different prisons to interview serial killers in order to understand how they think. It's a very intense & intriguing show with a very superb script. Read my review on Mindhunter HERE

ALIAS GRACE
Who doesn't love a good True-Crime Drama? I know I do. The adaptation of Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace was everything I wanted in a TV series. They explored the abusive nature of men on women in the 19th century. I couldn't get enough of this limited series and it's amazing dialogue, the cast and the story which was gripping from beginning to end. THE CROWN
Words are not enough to describe how much I love Netflix's Biographical Drama, The Crown. They proved to us once again why they always get nominations every award season. The second season covered the Queen's life from 1955-1963 while also focusing on Prince Phillip and Princess Margaret. Everything about this show is amazing. Read my review on The Crown HERE

GAME OF THRONES
The seventh season of HBO's Game of Thrones was everything I had hoped it would be and even though we got only 7 episodes, they were all filled with enough action to keep me locked and counting down to 2019 for the 8th and final season. What would I do without Game of Thrones after the finale? Read my review on the 7th season of Game of Thrones HERE

INSECURE
The first season of Issa Rae's Dramedy, Insecure, was good but the second season was amazing. The acting and the story line is everything we need on TV right now and I'm really looking forward to season three. Read my review on Insecure's second season HERE

THIS IS US
I can't get over the awesomeness that is This Is Us, season 2 is only half way gone and it has been such a ride. This show deserves more awards than its actually getting. Let's not even talk about how Sterling K. Brown, Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley and Chrissy Metz give life to their characters. I could talk about this show for hours. OZARK
Jason Bateman led the phenomenal cast in this dark Netflix drama about family and crime. I found myself rooting for the man who was to blame for the mess he put his family in. Bateman directed two episodes and the show has been nominated for a few awards including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for Bateman. Read my review of Ozark HERE

THE DEUCE
Yes! One of my favorite shows this year is one that tells the tales about the rise of the porn industry in the 1970's. There are so many ways in which this show would have been a mess but it delivered in more ways than one. James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhal gave award worthy performances which only left me wanting more. Read my review on The Deuce HERE

THE GOOD FIGHT
Even though The Good Wife is over, I still rave about it and I'm honestly thinking of binge watching it again. I was so ecstatic when they announced this spin off and I kept hoping it would be as good as The Good Wife. It lived up to my expectations and I loved every single minute of it with stellar performances from Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo and Rose Leslie. Read my review of The Good Fight HERE

WORST
INHUMANS
I feel so bad for the cast of Marvel's Inhumans because the show was a complete ball of mess. The story was not captivating in any way and it had dialogues that would only make you angry after every episode. I doubt they'll be getting another season from ABC. Read my review of Inhumans HERE

THE DEFENDERS
Marvel brought together four of its TV superheroes which includes Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones and gave us this mini-series that was such a waste of TV time. Watching each episode was torturous for me and I hope we never ever get another season of The Defenders. Read my review of The Defenders HERE

IRON FIST
I'm still trying to understand why Marvel's Iron Fist is getting another season because there was nothing interesting about season one. It also has a story that made me roll my eyes at least 10 times every episode.

24:LEGACY
24:Legacy is proof that some shows don't need spin-offs. It was a boring and cliche show that shouldn't have been made in the first place. There was nothing fresh about the story line and it only got worse after the pilot.

WHITE FAMOUS
Jamie Foxx is one of the Executive Producers of the Showtime series which stars SNL's Jay Pharoah. I tried so hard to like the comedy series but it just didn't happen. It was a little painful to watch and Jay Pharoah deserves better.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

"Don't Tell Mama"- The Shocking Sharp Objects Season Finale

Sharp Objects easily tops the list of my all time favorite TV Series. The HBO Limited Series aired it eight and final episode last night and it's something I'll probably never forget. I'm trying so hard to find the right words to describe this amazing show and the phenomenal acting from Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. They were just too perfect. Throughout the season, we've all been trying to figure out who the killer was in this whodunnit and I had so many theories. I never believed it was John Keene because most times, it's always the person you least expect that'll end up being the perpetrator. My first suspect was Alan (Henry Czerny), Adora's husband and Amma's father. I thought the only reason he would venture out to killing teenage girls was due to the fact that he was no longer as had a bond with his daughter and his loveless marriage but I was so wrong. Then I thought it was the Police Chief, Bill who was in cahoots with Ado

Chicago Justice: Series Premiere/Crossover Episode-"Fake"

Image via imdb.com I looked forward to seeing Chicago Justice after it was announced because I love the One Chicago universe even though I'm yet to see the other shows, i'm very familiar with their stories and characters. I'm a crazy fan of Chicago PD so I'm going to binge watch all the episodes of Chicago Fire, but I don't think I'll be able to see Chicago Med. Medical shows are too emotional for me. With Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, I don't know where to start from, but I'll binge watch from season one to eighteen whenever I can for sure.  The four part crossover started with an episode on Chicago Fire and concluded in the season premiere of Chicago Justice. There is a fire at a warehouse and the Chicago Fire crew think it's an accident but Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds metal wedges shoved under the door which means whoever started the fire wanted everyone trapped inside, so its arson.
