The Sophomore Season of The Handmaids Tale Comes to an End- Review

This season of Hulu’s The Handmaids Tale has been very emotional and intense. June went from almost getting her freedom (twice) to being back at the Waterford’s. Season one of what I consider the best thing to happen to TV premiered in 2017 and after bingeing all 10 episodes, I was in shock of how perfectly scripted it was. The acting from the likes of Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Joseph Fiennes and Madeline Brewer solidified its position in the TV world and in my heart. I spent the next year thinking about what could possibly happen in the second season because the first season was based solely on the book by Margaret Atwood but this season took a leap away from the source material and gave us something that was a bit more frustrating than the first.
It seemed like they took three steps forward and a massive five steps backwards. With the characters, you really couldn’t tell what version you’ll be getting in an episode. Serena would form an alliance with June and then end up wanting to strangle her. While Fred, who I sincerely think is so evil, would do something so terrible to Offred and then end up getting her visitation with her daughter, Hannah. It was obvious that these characters were conflicted, especially Serena. Somewhere in the back of their minds, they knew this new Gilead was a terrible idea. It was evident in this finale when Serena realized that “her baby” Nicole wouldn’t be able to read the Bible or anything at all because women were not allowed to do so in Gilead. This was truly the highlight of the season.
To be honest, I felt really bad for her. I didn’t want to, but I did and I was secretly hoping she and Offred would form an alliance, kill Fred and escape to Canada with Nicole/Holly, Nick and Rita. This season had so many great moments that would definitely haunt me till the third season premieres next year. One of my favorite episodes had to be “Holly”. It had very little dialogue but Moss’ body language was enough to earn her another Golden Globe. Sydney Sweeney as the very obedient Eden was honestly one of the best additions to the cast this season. I didn’t feel so at the beginning but she did her best acting in the penultimate episode titled “Postpartum”. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the swimming pool scene of her reciting 1 Corinthians 13:4. It was so chilling to watch. My biggest surprise this season had to be Commander Lawrence played Bradley Whitford. I couldn’t get a grip of his motives and he gave me serious Mr Kinnear (from Alias Grace) vibes. I thought he was going to end up killing Emily but he ended giving her something no other person could give her. Her freedom!!!
This season was super slow in comparison to season one and it required a lot of patience. I was so excited about Nick, Rita and The Martha’s swooping in to help June escape but at the end, what did she do? She gave Emily her baby and watched her leave in the van. What the hell June?? Why would you do this? Why? I had a feeling she was going to do something like that but I brushed it off thinking she wasn’t going to be that stupid. This is unlike June. Why would she leave her NEW BORN BABY with someone else and go back to the same place she had been struggling to get out of? Why???!!!! Why not go back to Canada and then work with Moira and the Canadian government to try to get her Hannah out of Gilead and maybe bring Gilead down. I just couldn’t understand this. Season two ended exactly how it began. Nick helping June escape, June out of The Waterford’s house and Serena with her evil husband, Fred. Where does this lead to now? Will June go back to the Waterford’s? Will she form an alliance with Serena? Will Aunt Lydia survive? What’s going to happen to Commander Lawrence? So many questions but we have no other choice than to wait till next year.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

Review- Who's The Boss (2020)

Directed by Chinaza Onuzo, "Who's The Boss" follows Liah (Sharon Ooja) , an Advertising Executive who struggles to climb the cooperate ladder while juggling her mean and vindictive boss Hauwa (Funke Akindele- Bello). She takes the advice of her best friend Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and enlists her friend Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known play boy into posing as her boss but ends up falling for him. It doesn't get any more cliche than this. After watching the first teaser for the Inkblot comedy, I was a little intrigued and looked forward to seeing how they were going to pull it off but sadly, it fell short in more ways than one. The biggest issue I had was the lead character and the actress cast to play it. Ooja has been typecast and I thought seeing her as the lead would show us a different side to the actress but my perception of her acting skills are worse than before. There's nothing worth remembering about this story and her acting did nothing to el
