In the aftermath of 'Captain America: Civil War,' Scott Lang is on house arrest and spends his time playing with his very adorable daughter Cassie (Abbie Ryder Fortson) as he counts down the days until he regains his freedom. He is confronted by Hope Van Dyne and her father, Dr. Hank Pym with a very urgent mission and they have to work together to save Janet Van Dyne who has been stuck in the Quantum Realm for 30 years.
Unlike the first film which I thought was very dull and forgettable, Ant-Man and The Wasp which is the 20th Marvel film was more fun and playful. I loved the cast and characters especially Evangeline Lily's Wasp. She was fierce and in control. I loved the fact that I was not emotionally invested like I was for Infinity War. It was pure entertainment from the beginning to the end. It relied heavily on the charm and wittiness of Paul Rudd and his character which I thought brought more life to the film. The funniest scene had to be when his suit malfunctioned and he shrunk to the size of a child at his daughter's school. Peña also stood out as he brought a lot of humor to the film. Hannah John-Kamen was a refreshing addition to the cast and I loved her as Ghost. There's a lot of emotion involved in this character and you're left wondering if you should feel bad for her or hate her. The action scenes were particularly interesting to watch with the way people, buildings and cars got smaller and bigger. If I'm being completely honest, I had very low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised at how entertained I was watching this sequel.
RATING 8/10
DIRECTOR Peyton Reed
STARRING Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Peña, Michael Douglas, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen
