American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

Image via imdb.com
The second season of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story anthology series focuses on the murder of Fashion Icon Gianni Versace in 1997 by spree killer Andrew Cunanan in front of his Miami Beach home. The nine-episode season is based on the book, Vulgar Favors by Maureen Orth. The first episode is super stylish, beautiful and colorful with characters brought to life by phenomenal actors. No one could have done it better than Darren Criss who plays Cunanan. He has certainly left his Glee days behind and taken up this murderous character with so much fervour. I smell an Emmy coming for him next year. Édgar Ramírez plays Versace while Penélope Cruz plays his sister, Donatella Versace  and Ricky Martin plays his partner Antonio D’ Amico

The episode begins with the activities of the morning that led to the murder and there’s a flashback of how Cunanan and Versace met back in 1990. Cunanan stalked and tracked Versace to the VIP area of a gay club. Versace doesn’t acknowledge him at first but Cunanan is able to lie his way into a date with the designer. It’s more obvious that Cunanan is a very skillful liar when his gay friend at school says “You tell gay people you’re gay and straight people you’re straight”. And Cunanan answers “I tell people what they need to hear”. That sums it up! It’s obvious that Cunanan is a very crazy person. After committing the crime, he sits in a car and screams for about a minute. These screams were followed by laughter which fit the markings of a psychopath. Cunanan has no emotion whatsoever and he’s happy about what he did. It doesn’t take the police long to find out that he was already a wanted criminal after murdering 4 people prior to Versace.

Donatella & Gianni’s partner, Antonio, don’t seem to have a very good relationship. It was very clear when he tried to follow her into a family meeting. We’ll definitely see how this relationship plays out in the coming episodes. I can’t watch this without making a little comparison to 2016's The People Vs. O.J. Simpson. I don’t think this carries as much weight as the O. J. saga but it’s still interesting to watch nonetheless. With 9 Emmy’s for The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, The Assassination of Gianni Versace has very big shoes to fill. Ryan Murphy’s directing is very obvious and he does a fantastic job in “The Man Who Would Be Vogue”. If we’re being honest, this story really isn’t Versace’s. It’s more of Andrew Cunanan’s story, his earlier life and his previous murders. I’ve been so pumped about this show and I’m really excited to see how the story unfolds. Is there enough to fit into 8 more episodes? I guess we'll have to wait and see. A new episode airs next Wednesday.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

Review- Who's The Boss (2020)

Directed by Chinaza Onuzo, "Who's The Boss" follows Liah (Sharon Ooja) , an Advertising Executive who struggles to climb the cooperate ladder while juggling her mean and vindictive boss Hauwa (Funke Akindele- Bello). She takes the advice of her best friend Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and enlists her friend Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known play boy into posing as her boss but ends up falling for him. It doesn't get any more cliche than this. After watching the first teaser for the Inkblot comedy, I was a little intrigued and looked forward to seeing how they were going to pull it off but sadly, it fell short in more ways than one. The biggest issue I had was the lead character and the actress cast to play it. Ooja has been typecast and I thought seeing her as the lead would show us a different side to the actress but my perception of her acting skills are worse than before. There's nothing worth remembering about this story and her acting did nothing to el

Theatrical Release Poster Deepwater Horizon is a true life movie based on the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig on April 20, 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana. They all board the helicopter and are taken to Deepwater Horizon. At the rig, there's a lot of talk and conversation about the condition of the rig.
