Praise Be! The Handmaids Tale Is Back!

Praise be! The Second season of one of my favorite shows premiered on Wednesday, April 25th and if you've been following my social media, you"ll see that I've literally been counting down and anticipating the return of the award wining show. Season one blew my mind and I haven't been able to stop talking about it to anyone that cared to listen. Season one ended with Offred getting shoved into the back of a van and it left us wondering what was going on and where they were taking her. Season two continues from this point and we find out that it’s just Aunt Lydia trying to play her mind games with the handmaids. To be honest, I shed a tear when they put the ropes around their necks. I thought at least one of them was going to die. This was such an emotional scene and I keep asking myself how these actors deal with such intense scenes. Aunt Lydia is truly evil and she wasn’t playing when she told the Handmaids that there were going to be consequences for their refusal to stone Janine to death last season. Offred is saved from the punishment when Aunt Lydia finds out about her pregnancy.

Blessed be the fruit!

It’s weird for Offred because she sees all her fellow Handmaids suffering while under punishment and hears their screams from getting their hands burnt but all she can do is drink the soup she was forced to take and stare at their sad faces. She feels helpless. In the first two episodes, we get to see more of the world outside the Waterford’s and it’s also terrible. June is seeking freedom and her baby’s father, Nick, is risking his life to make sure she gets it. June is trying to be strong for Hannah and for her baby but it’s really hard and I’m left praying and hoping that she doesn’t get caught and taken back to the Waterford’s or worse, hard labor with Emily.

In episode two, we get to see what Emily is going through and it’s not pretty. She’s toiling In the fields and shoveling gravel with a bunch of women and they are zapped if they stop for even a second and when they bell rings, they all have to kneel and thank God for his goodness. Crazy right? There’s also a flashback about Emily’s life before Gilead and how she lost her family. Our dear Emily was a professor and when she tried to run away with her wife and son, she was stopped on the grounds that the marriage was not considered a real one and forbidden. She also poisons a former mistress (Played by Marisa Tomei) who is brought to the Colonies because she had an affair. Emily pretends to be nice to her at first but poisons her and says “Every month, you held a woman down while your husband raped her”. The mistress is found hung like a scarecrow in the morning. I got really really emotional when Janine sees Emily and gives her a hug but I'm sad for what she's going to go through in the Colonies with Emily. Everything about this show is just amazing  and words and not even enough to describe how good it is. I have a strong feeling that Season Two will be better than the first and come award season, they’ll be snagging a lot of them. The best moment in the premiere was when June cut out the ear tag that marked her as a property of Gilead. This was a very important scene which meant that she was officially free. I really hope June gets her freedom and is reunited with Hannah and her husband. A new episode airs next Wednesday.

Praise be!!

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I c...

"Don't Tell Mama"- The Shocking Sharp Objects Season Finale

Sharp Objects easily tops the list of my all time favorite TV Series. The HBO Limited Series aired it eight and final episode last night and it's something I'll probably never forget. I'm trying so hard to find the right words to describe this amazing show and the phenomenal acting from Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. They were just too perfect. Throughout the season, we've all been trying to figure out who the killer was in this whodunnit and I had so many theories. I never believed it was John Keene because most times, it's always the person you least expect that'll end up being the perpetrator. My first suspect was Alan (Henry Czerny), Adora's husband and Amma's father. I thought the only reason he would venture out to killing teenage girls was due to the fact that he was no longer as had a bond with his daughter and his loveless marriage but I was so wrong. Then I thought it was the Police Chief, Bill who was in cahoots with Ado...

Chicago Justice: Series Premiere/Crossover Episode-"Fake"

Image via imdb.com I looked forward to seeing Chicago Justice after it was announced because I love the One Chicago universe even though I'm yet to see the other shows, i'm very familiar with their stories and characters. I'm a crazy fan of Chicago PD so I'm going to binge watch all the episodes of Chicago Fire, but I don't think I'll be able to see Chicago Med. Medical shows are too emotional for me. With Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, I don't know where to start from, but I'll binge watch from season one to eighteen whenever I can for sure.  The four part crossover started with an episode on Chicago Fire and concluded in the season premiere of Chicago Justice. There is a fire at a warehouse and the Chicago Fire crew think it's an accident but Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds metal wedges shoved under the door which means whoever started the fire wanted everyone trapped inside, so its arson.
