Review- Tomb Raider (2018)

Alicia Vikander plays Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of Richard Croft (Dominic West)  an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was just a teenager. Now 21, Lara lives a carefree life, can barely make rent and takes college classes from time to time, Lara is determined to forge her own path and not end up like her father. She solves a puzzle and finds a video left by her dad before his demise and goes against his wishes to his last known location off the Coast of Japan to find out what truly happened to him. The mission isn't an easy one and Lara must find a way to survive this dangerous adventure.

I'm always very skeptical about reboots and I felt the same way about Tomb Raider but I'm so glad that I wasn't disappointed because it was a pretty entertaining film. Alicia Vikander did an awesome job. This is more of an origin story for Vikander's character and and I was really impressed with her acting. The fact that she did all her stunts made me love her more. The other cast members which includes Dominic West, Daniel Wu were awesome and Walton Goggins was a good villain. Making a film based on a video game has to be one of the most tasking jobs in film making and they pulled this off making it one of the best video game adaptations. When compared to other video game adaptations like Assassins Creed, this was way better. It wasn't a great film and I wish they did a better job with the characters and the story but I loved the action scenes. If I'm being totally honest, I wasn't expecting the story line to be insane, I was watching for the action, and they delivered. The sound was great and the CGI was perfect. Although, it was pretty cliche and predictable sometimes, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching it, because I did.

RATING 7.5/10
DIRECTOR Roar Uthaug
BASED ON Tomb Raider by Crystal Dynamics
STARRING Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu

  1. Your review is spot on. A lot of people had unreasonably high expectations for this movie but tbh it did what it needed to do which was to reintroduce the character and entertain. Love your blog btw

  2. I don't think this is the fault of the filmmakers, the movie is actually pretty good about using physical sets, but there's a couple of effects that look awful by today's standard. The most noteworthy element is the sword-wielding statue that Lara does battle against by endlessly firing clips at it (a clear indication that more movement either wasn't possible or in the budget). I will applaud the production for using physical sets for most of the film, but these elements are hard to ignore/not laugh at.).yidio And zmovies

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

Review- Who's The Boss (2020)

Directed by Chinaza Onuzo, "Who's The Boss" follows Liah (Sharon Ooja) , an Advertising Executive who struggles to climb the cooperate ladder while juggling her mean and vindictive boss Hauwa (Funke Akindele- Bello). She takes the advice of her best friend Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and enlists her friend Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known play boy into posing as her boss but ends up falling for him. It doesn't get any more cliche than this. After watching the first teaser for the Inkblot comedy, I was a little intrigued and looked forward to seeing how they were going to pull it off but sadly, it fell short in more ways than one. The biggest issue I had was the lead character and the actress cast to play it. Ooja has been typecast and I thought seeing her as the lead would show us a different side to the actress but my perception of her acting skills are worse than before. There's nothing worth remembering about this story and her acting did nothing to el
