Being Mary Jane: Mid Season Finale- "Getting It"

Image via refinery29.com
The mid season finale of BET's Being Mary Jane aired on Tuesday, March 21 and Mary Jane finally got the anchor chair she had been hoping to get. Okay, let's have a recap of what went down since the beginning of this season. Mary Jane and her bestie, Kara, moved to New York for their gig at Great Day USA. MJ was promised the anchor chair after the great Ronda (Valerie Pettiford) leaves but she didn't get it, MJ's enemy from CNN Justin (Michael Ealy) gets hired at Great Day USA and she thinks he came to get her fired or just make her life a living hell, but it turned out not being so. MJ has a new boyfriend, Lee (Chike Okonkwo) who has two kids with his lesbian baby mother, Niecy broke up with Dante after she gives back her settlement money and Kara is in love with a former football player who is much younger than her. The mid season finale "Getting It" is all about MJ turning the big 4-0. Justin finds out that Ronda's story about cyber bullying is fake and apparently he planned it from the beginning just so MJ could take her place on the Anchor chair as the face of Great Day USA. He shared a kiss with MJ on the last episode but they agreed to stop and keep it professional.

It dawns on Lee that he might have three kids on two different planets which makes him have second thoughts about having a child with MJ. He says he feels trapped. He leaves angrily after MJ throws a tea cup at him. Ronda is placed on suspension after Justin informs Garret about the fake story which means MJ is getting the chair. Yayyyy!! While at the office, MJ and Justin have sex on the table she'll broadcast from the following day. Way to go MJ! In a room filled with cameras? What if someone walked in? Anyways, I still don't trust Justin. What's his end game here? Ronda somehow convinces the bosses that Kara, as her producer is also guilty, so Kara is placed on suspension which makes Mary Jane feel so terrible after getting the job she had always dreamt about. Ronda tells MJ to watch her back just before leaving and before MJ goes on air, Lee watches Justin brush hair from MJ's face. He knows something is up. There are a lot of questions boiling up after watching the first half of this season. Will MJ and Lee work things out and have the baby? Will Kara get her job back? I feel so bad for her and I really want her to win. Will Ronda return for revenge? What's Justin's motive? I love Michael Ealy but he really seems like an evil person here. Does he have something up his sleeve? All this questions and more will be answered when Being Mary Jane returns July 18.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

Review- Who's The Boss (2020)

Directed by Chinaza Onuzo, "Who's The Boss" follows Liah (Sharon Ooja) , an Advertising Executive who struggles to climb the cooperate ladder while juggling her mean and vindictive boss Hauwa (Funke Akindele- Bello). She takes the advice of her best friend Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and enlists her friend Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known play boy into posing as her boss but ends up falling for him. It doesn't get any more cliche than this. After watching the first teaser for the Inkblot comedy, I was a little intrigued and looked forward to seeing how they were going to pull it off but sadly, it fell short in more ways than one. The biggest issue I had was the lead character and the actress cast to play it. Ooja has been typecast and I thought seeing her as the lead would show us a different side to the actress but my perception of her acting skills are worse than before. There's nothing worth remembering about this story and her acting did nothing to el
