Binge Worthy- Ava DuVernay's "When They See Us" Review

When I first read about the Central Park Five story, I was in shock at how these 5 innocent teens were accused and thrown into jail for a crime they knew nothing about. I was angry and sad at the same time and this was exactly how I felt while watching the Ava DuVernay Limited Series. The series is based on the Central Park Jogger case where a 28 year old female jogger was attacked and raped on April 19th, 1989 in Central Park, New York. The attack left her in coma for 12 days and unable to remember the events before or during the attack. Detectives rounded up over 30 young black and hispanic boys and five of them (Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise) were convicted of the crime and spent 6-13 years in prison. In 2002, more than a decade after their conviction, Matias Reyes, a serial rapist serving a life sentence for other crimes confessed to the rape and said he acted alone. At the time of Reyes' confession, the statute of limitation h...

Binge Worthy- Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini in Netflix's "Dead To Me"- Season One Review

"Dead To Me" follows Jen (Christina Applegate) a widow whose husband recently died in a hit-and-run. She meets Judy (Linda Cardellini), an optimistic free spirit who's also mourning , at a grief support group and they quickly become friends.  The Dark Comedy explores the weirdly funny sides of grief, loss and forgiveness. I knew I had to see this show after seeing the trailer and I was hooked at least 5 minutes into the pilot. Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini are amazing  together  on screen and their chemistry is  undeniable. Their conversations look so real that you'd think they were already best friends before starring in the show. I love the mystery surrounding the plot and how they slowly revealed the truth to the viewers. Applegate and Cardellini were amazing as the leads and they put their souls into their characters. I wish they got bigger acting gigs because they're clearly fantastic actresses. I wondered how...

Game of Thrones Series Finale -" The Iron Throne"

I get emotionally attached to shows I really love and my obsession with Game of Thrones has been at an all time high for years. You only get to see very few shows that are so well done with perfect attention to details and Game of Thrones is THAT show! Season one to seven was a thrilling ride and waiting for the final season felt like torture. So much was slated to go down this season and I was ready to see who was finally going to seat on the throne. From The Night King and his army to Cersei and Euron and Dany and her Dragons, there was a lot to squeeze into 6 super sized episodes. Season 8 started well and somehow, the final few episodes didn't leave me feeling excited. "The Knight of The Seven Kingdoms" was definitely my favorite episode this season. It was beautifully filmed and made me truly appreciate these characters we've come to know all these years. There was so much build up surrounding The Night King and his army and I was super hyped to see how it woul...

Zac Efron is Ted Bundy- "Extremely Wicked,Shockingly Evil & Vile" Review

I've read about hundreds of serial killers but Ted Bundy's story and killing spree was one that stood out because nobody ever suspected him as someone capable of such acts and he refused to accept that he was guilty. The Joe Berlinger film is less about Bundy's crime and more about his relationship with his girlfriend at that time,  Elizabeth Kloepfer aka Liz Kendall, and how she dealt with the fact that she was building a life with a serial killer. The movie is based on "The Phantom Prince: My Life With Ted Bundy" by Elizabeth Kendall with Lily Collins playing Kendall and Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy  I never doubted Zac Efron's acting skills but he really did an amazing job with this role. Not only did he have a striking resemblance with Bundy but he was able to truly express Bundy's creepy and somewhat charming demeanor. It was weird how he spot on he was with his smile. He is supported by Collins who also does a great job playing Kendall. I thi...

Review- Avengers: Endgame (2019)

It's been three weeks since the events of Infinity War which wiped away more than half of the universe. Iron Man and Nebula are in  space but they are suddenly rescued by Captain Marvel and returned to Earth to be reunited with the remaining Avengers. Unable to find a way to reverse Thanos' snap, they all give up and  separate to different places. Five years later, Ant Man returns to a different Earth after being stuck in the Quantum Realm. He brings up the idea of Time Travel and together with Black Widow, Captain America and Hulk, they assemble the remaining Avengers to return back in time to borrow the stones before Thanos has a chance to get them and erase half of the Earth.  11 years, 22 films. The MCU has been giving us non stop superhero action and it's sad that this phase has come to an end. It's no joke bringing together big names and big characters in not one but two movies and making sure each of these characters have significant scree...

Hulu's True Crime Series Explores the Tragic Story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard- The Act Review

I am a sucker for Crime Series and after reading the true story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, I knew I had to see the Hulu show. It stars Oscar winning actress Patricia Arquette and Joey King as a murder-daughter duo who have a very questionable relationship. The Act follows Gypsy Rose Blanchard (King), a teenager who is trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her "Manchausen Syndrome by Proxy" mother Dee Dee (Arquette).    Mini Series are my new favorite things and everything about The Act was perfect. Patricia Arquette is an amazing actress and I had no doubts that she was going to do a great job with this role. She literally owned the role and her chemistry with Joey King was stellar. King has really grown from her days of playing Selena Gomez' sister in "Ramona and Beezus" and she did a fantastic job playing Gypsy Rose. She really surprised me with her portrayal of this character and I'm looking forward to seeing her take on major roles i...

Winter is Finally Here: Game of Thrones Final Season Premiere

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ IF YOU'RE YET TO SEE THE EPISODE. After waiting for over a year, Winter finally came for us! I’ve never been this excited about a TV series as I am about Game of Thrones. I always ask myself how a show can be this good and have such a great effect on millions of people all over the world. Before the finale premiered, I made sure I saw the entire 7th & 1st seasons again and random episodes from the 2nd to 6th seasons and it made me understand so many things more than I did when I watched it at first. There were so many things that were said in the first season about the undead, the mad king and Ned Stark’s sister Lyanna that definitely went over my head. Watching it a second time gave me proper understanding and I’m so glad I did. One particular scene that stood out for me was when an old lady told a recently crippled Bran about The Undead and he only thought they were scary stories but I really listened to what she said again and now it makes a...
