Kemi Adetiba's "King of Boys" is an Unforgettable Force to be Reckoned With!- Review

King of Boys follows the story of Alhaja Eniola Salami (Sola Sobowale), a businesswoman and philanthropist with a complicated past and a promising political future. She is a pillar of the society, loved by many and feared by most. As her political ambitions grow, she'd drawn into a power struggle that threatens everything she cares about.
I've always loved Kemi Adetiba from her days of making music videos and I was always in awe of how her work stood out from everybody else's work. She came back with King of Boys starring Sola Sobowale, Adesua Etomi, Reminisce, Toni Tones and made me appreciate her even more than I already did. Before I saw it, I was a bit skeptical about the fact that it had so many big names and wondered if the story and acting was going to be any good. It surpassed my expectations in every way and I haven't been able to stop talking about it since I saw it. Sola Sobowale is a gem and she needs to be protected at all costs!! I've never doubted her acting skills but what she did in King of Boys is definitely one for the books. It was very obvious that she put her entire soul into her portrayal of this character and I'm still trying to get over it. We all know how fantastic Adesua Etomi's acting skills are but we've never really seen her playing diverse roles but her character in King of Boys is one of her best, if not the best. She played the role with so much class and finesse. Ill Bliss and Reminisce were amazing additions to the cast and did amazingly well in their roles. I don't think words are enough to describe how much I loved Toni Tones as young Eniola. She was astounding and she completely blew my mind away. She's one actress that definitely needs to play more lead roles and I really hope we see more of her in the future. I got real goosebumps from watching her. The entire cast did so well and they individually added their own spice to the film and made it more thrilling.
The dialogue was also the best I've seen in a Nollywood film! I couldn't get enough of the proverbs they kept spewing out in almost every scene. There were so many unforgettable scenes in this film that'll make you truly appreciate and admire these actors and their craft. King of Boys looked really good visually and the sound was on point. The best thing about this film was the story. It's very rare to see a Nollywood film that has a fantastic pace from the beginning to the end and King of Boys had that. Although, it was bit longer than I expected, it never got boring. The story was very unpredictable and the ending made me hunger for more. My favorite scene was the police station scene which featured Eniola hallucinating and seeing her younger self, her daughter Kemi and her friend Kemi. It took a while for the goosebumps to disappear because I couldn't get over how breathtaking that scene was. Yolanda Okereke did such a fantastic job with the wardrobe and the makeup was astonishing. Scene after scene, the actors wore meticulously made outfits.
"The slow crawling of the Leopard is not due to fear"
I loved how real the story was and how relatable it is to every Nigerian and to Nigeria. The corruption plot is exactly what is going on behind the scenes in the political landscape and we need more stories like this in our cinemas. I loved how we got a backstory of Eniola and how she rose from the slums to become a powerful woman in charge of a large chunk of the political sector. Kemi Adetiba deserves more than a standing ovation for her boldness in making this film. It's obvious she put in a lot of work with her keen attention to details and the entire flow of the film. She respects her viewers enough not to give them a mediocre and forgettable film which is why I think she's one of the best Nollywood filmmakers right now. This is the film Nollywood filmmakers should emulate and use as a reference for future films. Although, there were a few scenes that should have been shorter especially the opening scene. I also wish they didn't add OAP Nedu to the cast because his scenes were very unnecessary and cringe worthy. King of Boys wasn't perfect but the little errors are not enough not to make this film get into a list of "Best Nollywood Films of all Time".

These words don't do justice to how incredible King of Boys was. I've literally been talking about it since I saw it. Everyone needs to see this film. It's worth the hype, your time and money.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I cried for two episodes straight) which means

Review- Who's The Boss (2020)

Directed by Chinaza Onuzo, "Who's The Boss" follows Liah (Sharon Ooja) , an Advertising Executive who struggles to climb the cooperate ladder while juggling her mean and vindictive boss Hauwa (Funke Akindele- Bello). She takes the advice of her best friend Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and enlists her friend Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known play boy into posing as her boss but ends up falling for him. It doesn't get any more cliche than this. After watching the first teaser for the Inkblot comedy, I was a little intrigued and looked forward to seeing how they were going to pull it off but sadly, it fell short in more ways than one. The biggest issue I had was the lead character and the actress cast to play it. Ooja has been typecast and I thought seeing her as the lead would show us a different side to the actress but my perception of her acting skills are worse than before. There's nothing worth remembering about this story and her acting did nothing to el
