Review- Mom's at War (2018)

In all honesty, when I first saw the trailer for Moms at War, I rolled my eyes intensely at the fact that I was going to sit through almost two hours of another terrible Nollywood comedy but I was wrong. The Omoni Oboli film focused on two moms,  Eberechi Ubosi (Omoni Oboli)  & Olaide Adetola (Funke Akindele) whose kids were fighting for a spot in the World's Scholar's Program which would earn them a scholarship in a prestigious university. These two moms hate each other and it's left to them to keep their differences aside for the sake of their children. I'm not going to pretend that this story isn't something a lot of us have seen at least once, the only difference is that it had an almost perfect execution. The cast, which consisted of Yul Edochie, Sharon Ooja, Eucharia Anunobi, Alvin Abayomi and Bukola Oladipupo all did really well. Although, I didn't particularly like Abayomi as Bayo. He looked too much like a grown man unlike Oladipupo who fit into her role. The chemistry between Akindele and Oboli was very evident in each scene, they were perfect together.
I've seen most of Oboli's films and I never truly loved any of them but Moms at War was different. It had the right amount of humor and nothing felt forced. The story is also very relatable and it didn't stop at just the "scholarship program" plot. There were other subplots that included adultery, friendship and love. There were a few scenes that were very questionable and unnecessary especially the Fitness Connection scene with Denrele. It didn't make a lot of sense to me and I thought it was unrealistic. I still think it's Oboli's best work yet. It didn't drag and it was pretty straight forward. Even with it's few issues, I found Moms at War a good enough Comedy to make my hope for Nollywood go from 0 to 50.

"Don't Tell Mama"- The Shocking Sharp Objects Season Finale

Sharp Objects easily tops the list of my all time favorite TV Series. The HBO Limited Series aired it eight and final episode last night and it's something I'll probably never forget. I'm trying so hard to find the right words to describe this amazing show and the phenomenal acting from Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. They were just too perfect. Throughout the season, we've all been trying to figure out who the killer was in this whodunnit and I had so many theories. I never believed it was John Keene because most times, it's always the person you least expect that'll end up being the perpetrator. My first suspect was Alan (Henry Czerny), Adora's husband and Amma's father. I thought the only reason he would venture out to killing teenage girls was due to the fact that he was no longer as had a bond with his daughter and his loveless marriage but I was so wrong. Then I thought it was the Police Chief, Bill who was in cahoots with Ado...

Goodbye Mike & Rachel- Suits' Seventh Season Finale Review

Suits is one of my favorite Legal Drama's and for some reason, I'm still very invested in the show after 7 seasons. I don't think they've had any bad season and they've done such a great job with the growth and development of the major characters but the time to say goodbye to Mike and Rachel was finally here. Due to the fact that Meghan Markle would be getting married to Prince Harry, I guess it was a good time to wrap up her love story with Mike and they do this with the fairy tale wedding we've all been waiting for. Mike and Rachel have been an item since the first season and have been engaged since the fifth. They would have been married a season ago but were not able to because of Mike's time in prison. I always loved their chemistry and I was so sad to see them say goodbye and more than anything, I loved Mike and Harvey's relationship. It was so genuine and pure. The two final episodes of the final season of Suits aired back to back and...

Snowfall Season One Finale Review- "The Rubicon"

There's no denying that this season has been intense for the four major characters and everyone around them. The first season of Snowfall was all over the place but the by the 8th episode, I was convinced the writers finally got their thoughts together. The pilot episode was good and I felt this was a show I was going to fall in love with, but it became a struggle to watch after the third episode.  They got my attention back after Leon was shot in the final scene of the 8th episode. Franklin got himself into a very dangerous business which I still think he hasn't fully realized. He wants to hustle hard and make sure he's mom doesn't have to bother herself about anything, but she's disappointed when she finds out about her son's extra curricular activities. The neighborhood knows that he's the boss and he's really all about the money.  Damson Idris brings his character of Franklin to life and I couldn't see anyone else playing this role. He's ...
