The Good Fight Premiere: "Inauguration" & "First Week"

Image via google.com
I must confess, when I found out that The Good Wife was going to have a spinoff, I was extremely excited. I was a HUGE fan of The Good Wife and watching the first two episodes of The Good Fight gave me goose bumps. I realized how much I missed seeing Alicia, Will, Kalinda, Cary and Eli (especially Eli). I'm thinking of binge watching the entire series again, but I'd probably skip Will's death which drained me emotionally. Okay, let's get back to The Good Fight!
Of course I was elated to see Diane again, who still never disappoints with her wardrobe. She is forced out of her firm which had changed from Lockhart Gardner to Lockhart, Decker, Gussman, Lee, Lyman, Gilbert-Lurie, Kagan, Tannebaum, & Associates; after she loses her life savings in a financial scam. Diane's Goddaughter Maia Rindell, whose father was accused and arrested for the scam moves with Diane to Reddick, Boseman and Kolstad. Lucca Quinn is also a lawyer at this firm. Diane who was at the top of her career, is left to work at a firm as a partner and she can't even put together her capital contribution. She is abandoned by all her friends and can't get a job because they consider her poison to their businesses. Maia's story feels exactly like Alicia Florrick's at the beginning of The Good Wife. Her life is turned upside down after a major scandal, and she keeps getting scrutinized by a lot of people, especially the press.

The Good fight takes place a year after The Good Wife's finale, Alicia's name is mentioned a few times and we see a picture of Will and Diane when she packs to leave Lockhart, Decker, Gussman, Lee, Lyman, Gilbert-Lurie, Kagan, Tannebaum, & Associates. Although it stands on its own, I can't help but be reminded of The Good Wife and everything that came with it. The Good Fight is quite different from its predecessor, there are few scenes where a character swears which is something that never happened on The Good Wife. This new show is not as simple as The Good Wife and it doesn't live in that shadow. The old and new characters stand on their own and they all have different stories which are not always peculiar to the law and the firms they work for.

We never really knew anything about Lucca's personal life in The Good Wife, she was mostly part of anything that had to do with Alicia. It's good to see her on her own and I hope we get to see more of her life here. In "Inauguration", the episode begins with Diane watching TV in dismay as Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. The show is definitely current and invested in real politics. In "First Week", Maia and Lucca go to court on a Pro Bono case concerning a man accused of stealing seventy thousand dollars worth of tennis shoes. Frank's employer used the Friedman method to get him to confess. Frank says he didn't steal tennis shoes but a previous issue at his former work place causes Lucca and Maia to lose the case. Maia tries to use the Friedman method on her mom to figure out if she was lying about not being involved in the Ponzi scheme, but fails.

In one scene, Maia explains to Diane how she isn't sure if her client, Frank was actually innocent and Diane says "People I thought with all my heart were guilty turned out to be innocent, and people I thought were saints, they um, they weren’t". This immediately reminded me of Alicia and Diane's issues in The Good Wife's finale, she was probably referring to Alicia (Saint Alicia).

Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele) returns as a character who is always very resourceful in getting what she needs and she proves this by helping Lucca and Maia with their case. Making an exciting return is Judge Charles Abernathy, who will forever be my favorite Judge. He doesn't waste any time switching things up in court by wearing sun glasses and getting up to walk to the board. Most of his scenes are always hilarious and I hope we see more of him. If you loved The Good Wife, then you're definitely going to love this one. If you didn't see The Good Wife. see this one anyway. Its a very compelling Political Drama with amazing characters who bring something peculiar to the table. It has just been two episodes and I already love everything about this show. I can't thank Robert and Michelle King enough for this blessing to TV.

SUITS: Season 6 finale

The 6th season of suits has been quite an emotional one with Mike's would be wedding with Rachel, his going to Prison and Rachel's death row case. Death row cases can get really sad especially if the suspect is innocent which was the case of Leonard Bailey (Glenn Plummer) who was accused of murdering two people. After staying behind bars for 12 years, Leonard Bailey was finally exonerated with the help of Rachel and Jessica (Gina Torres). During this episode, a major character said goodbye to the show. Gina Torres decided to leave Suits to film another TV Show 'Catch' and it was quite emotional. This episode showed a different side of Jessica Pearson, she put her pro Bono case first before the firm and fought for the freedom of Leonard Bailey.          Gina Torres will no longer be a series regular and I was happy her character wasn't killed off like Will Gardner in the Good Wife, (I c...

"Don't Tell Mama"- The Shocking Sharp Objects Season Finale

Sharp Objects easily tops the list of my all time favorite TV Series. The HBO Limited Series aired it eight and final episode last night and it's something I'll probably never forget. I'm trying so hard to find the right words to describe this amazing show and the phenomenal acting from Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson and Eliza Scanlen. They were just too perfect. Throughout the season, we've all been trying to figure out who the killer was in this whodunnit and I had so many theories. I never believed it was John Keene because most times, it's always the person you least expect that'll end up being the perpetrator. My first suspect was Alan (Henry Czerny), Adora's husband and Amma's father. I thought the only reason he would venture out to killing teenage girls was due to the fact that he was no longer as had a bond with his daughter and his loveless marriage but I was so wrong. Then I thought it was the Police Chief, Bill who was in cahoots with Ado...

Chicago Justice: Series Premiere/Crossover Episode-"Fake"

Image via imdb.com I looked forward to seeing Chicago Justice after it was announced because I love the One Chicago universe even though I'm yet to see the other shows, i'm very familiar with their stories and characters. I'm a crazy fan of Chicago PD so I'm going to binge watch all the episodes of Chicago Fire, but I don't think I'll be able to see Chicago Med. Medical shows are too emotional for me. With Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, I don't know where to start from, but I'll binge watch from season one to eighteen whenever I can for sure.  The four part crossover started with an episode on Chicago Fire and concluded in the season premiere of Chicago Justice. There is a fire at a warehouse and the Chicago Fire crew think it's an accident but Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds metal wedges shoved under the door which means whoever started the fire wanted everyone trapped inside, so its arson.
